Baseline Testing

This morning I went and got my blood drawn to test for thyroid and diabetes. I also went to Wal-mart and got a flu shot, cause it’s recommended to get one if you have asthma.

Today I went to baseline testing for personal training. They just do a couple of tests, check your endurance, your flexibility, upper body and lower body strength. They measured my entire body, my waist is 51 inches. that’s double the size I want it to be. My body fat is 46%, I want it to be 21%. They use Bio-electrical impedance testing and that’s not very accurate. But I know my body fat level is high, when I get much leaner and closer to my goal I will probably go to my alma mater, ASU, and get a body pod test done again. So yea I have a long way to go.

I didn’t work out with a trainer today. Coach Rick wrote me a upper body workout and showed me which machines to use. They do that on the days that you aren’t training with a trainer. I was apprehensive, cause I don’t like working out with weights alone. It turned out to be totally fine and it was hard. Rope pulldowns for my triceps hurt and so do dips. Those were the worst.

I saw a lady that looked like a figure or bikini competitor. That’s the first time I’ve seen a really lean muscular woman in the gym.

After I finished with weights, I got on the treadmill to do Week 5 Day 3 of the Couch to 5k. I turned on the app and it said run for 20 minutes. Are you kidding me? It jumped from 8 minutes yesterday to 20 minutes today. Who does that? I must have been spent cause I could only run 5 minutes. So I failed Day 3 of week 5. I will have to keep trying it until I can do it. My legs are a little sore from my workout yesterday and my right hip burns a little. It’s been doing that every other day for like a week. I should have asked my Dr. about it but I forgot. It feels inflamed.

Oh after I got off the treadmill, I went to the bathroom and that lady was in there. I asked her if she is a competitor. She said yes. I asked her what division she competes in. She said she does Natural Bodybuilding competitions. She’s done NPC and some other. She was really lean. I can tell her bodyfat % is low because her face had no fat in it. It looked like it was sagging and not from old age but from diet. I wouldn’t have guessed that she did bodybuilding. Her arms were fantastic. I want arms like hers. the rest of her was too tiny though, I would wanna be a lil bigger.

I ate pretty good on plan today. I didn’t get to my snacks yet, but I ate 3 square meals. I think I’m going to have some chobani yogurt for dessert. I don’t understand how that tomato basil salmon has over 400 calories in it. it has a slice of tomato on top and a teaspoon of parmesan cheese. I dont get it. Whatever.

Great comments and thoughts today. I am doing the 10k trainer app. On week 4 now.

I never see super lean ripped women at the gym, ever. Mostly just runner types.

Salmon has a lot of calories due to higher good fat content, so what was the ounces and how much cheese and what type of oil ? They always bake it in oils…so all that adds up. Not surprised…that sounds right.
