The Case Against Sugar

I feel like I am addicted to sugar and I wonder if it’s the reason my weight loss is slow. Then I read this article and watched the video and know for sure that I need to lower all my sugar and sweetener consumption. There are four things I have every day that has added sugar: oatmeal (sometimes I have the instant packets which have sugar or when I use plain rolled oats I add Splenda), crystal light (aspartame), protein powder (sucralose), and greek yogurt (cane syrup). (My other meals are vegetables and a protein meat.) If I can cut those four things in half I will feel better about my diet.

I replaced my fruit juice addiction with Crystal Light because it has way less calories. (5 calories versus 120 calories) Well now I see that all my Crystal Light has aspartame in it and aspartame is a chemical that is not good for you according to some research and it’s also not clean eating. I guess I’m going to have to wean myself off of that and drink plain ice tea. I have to have something flavored to drink, I am not a “just water” kind of girl. I drink plenty of water but I like flavored drinks too. I think I will be fine with some variety of teas.

I use DaVinci sugar free flavored syrup (splenda) in my oatmeal which I guess I can replace with Stevia. I do not like plain oatmeal, it has to be sweet and I like it with raisins and cinnamon but it doesn’t have to be overly sweet so maybe just a couple drops of stevia will do the trick.

If I make those two changes then the only added sugar I will have is the greek yogurt and the protein powder and I think I can live with that.
