Diet Compliance Issues Again

It’s been 9 months since I started this journey and I’ve lost 40 pounds. I think the reason my progress is so slow is because sometimes I just am not diet compliant. This is a reoccuring theme for me. Diet is the major determination of weight loss for me. I just think I can’t eat the same boring foods day in and day out for months on end. I have a long way before I hit my goal weight or what I want my body to look like and I have to be able to eat a variety of foods to keep myself from going crazy. I actually start feeling dull and depressed when I eat the same thing every day for weeks on end. I know people say change it up but

I hate cooking even though I do it once a week begrudgingly. But I don’t like the food I cook on my diet, it’s so plain and boring. chicken, tilapia, salmon, broccoli, potatoes, blah, blah, gag me. I’d rather buy food at restaraunts, it tastes so much better. Restaraunt food excites my taste buds.

The past 2 weeks have been particularly bad, I just can’t seem to eat the diet food on most days. I want to review my diet for the past two weeks.

This eating spree started Wednesday, the 6th, when I was starving after leaving my trainer and I went to Pei Wei and had black pepper chicken. Later that night i went to a club with my boyfriend and another friend and had 3 nasty chicken wings and a complimentary lemon drop from the management.

Thursday, the 7th, I ate on plan

Friday the 8th I had 5 wings. I can’t remember where I got them at but I was probably trying to make up for the nasty wings on Wednesdays. These wings were not much better.

Saturday, the 9th, I went in search of the perfect Reuben sandwhich. I may have talked about this in here already, but I was craving a Reuben after seens the Arby’s commercial. My boyfriend said the Arby’s Reuben was nasty so I went searching for a good one. First I went to Jason’s deli where I split the sandwhich in half with my friend. It was pretty good but I knew there was a better one, so I drove 45 minutes across town to Tempe to Chompies and had their Reuben on a onion  roll. That sandwhich is soo damned good, it has both pastrami and corned beef on it. I also had a lemon bar which was not very good. I am a lemon bar connoisseur.

Sunday the 10th, my boyfriend and I went to breakfast at Mimi’s Cafe where I had a waffle, turkey sausage and 2 sunnyside up eggs. Later that day I went to a ice cream shop with my friend and had a 1/2 cup of amaretto cherry ice cream and pecan praline ice cream.

Last Monday I ate on plan

Last Tuesday was spring break at school so we didn’t have class. Instead I went to team trivia at a bar where I had a chef salad (no pork, I don’t eat pork, just turkey) and 2 alcohol sweet drinks. One of them had pinnacle whipped cream vodka in it the other one had peach schnapps.

Wednesday I went to the movies with my boyfriend but first we stopped at Wing Stop which has the BEST garlic parmesan wings and I usually don’t like any fries except McDonalds but Wing Stop has good fries that I dipped in blue cheese dressing. I washed it down with a Mikes Hard Lemonade. I also had a lil popcorn at the movies. I also ate that huge Hersheys kiss that I got from the “Kiss Me I’m Irish” race.

Thursday I ate on plan.

Friday me and my friend were driving to the mall when I saw a sign for a new cupcake place. So we stopped in and got a gourmet cupcake each. Later that day we went to a Lounge that had a free buffet so I had a small beef brisket sandwhich and a bbq chicken thigh. Also had a Smirnoff Ice and some Lemonade.

Saturday for breakfast I had a Whataburger Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit that some sleepover guests picked up for me because I was craving it the night before and the problem is they only sell them from 11pm – 11am. While I was sleep, my friends made a trip early in the morning to Whattaburger to get it for me. Later that night I went to a bar to watch the UFC fight and I had a grilled chicken salad, wings, 2 Long Island Ice Teas, a Adios M’Fer and a midori drink.

Sunday I ate on plan

Last night I ordered a Large stuffed crust pizza from Pizza Hut. I love stuffed crust pizza and I can ONLY find it at Pizza Hut. Well I ate two slices and then I ate all the crust off the other pieces and threw the rest of it away (I did take a couple slices to my neighbor first). I realized I don’t even really like the other parts of the pizza, I only like the stuffed crust.

Today I had a tuna sandwhich from Blimpies and a protein shake from LA Fitness after working out with my boyfriend.

Reading all this makes me see just how far off plan I have gone. I have lost 4 pounds in the past 2 weeks though so I’ve convinced myself that my body liked the extra calories. The biggest problem with eating off plan for me is that it makes a big dent in my wallet which I cannot afford. Writing this blog has been eye opening, I can really see that I have not been compliant so I will get back on track now.

    Hey girl – not sure if it will help – but I have been following over eaters anonymous – it helps me stay on track diet wise – you have done a great job – you look amazing!!!

    Hi Vicki!

    I understand. I had hoped to be down 8 to 10 pounds during my first month. I only lost three. I had a birthday and a weekend road trip. I’m hoping month two will be better and I can be better focused with both exercise and food intake.
