When to do cardio

Well as you know, I’m not currently on the exercise kick. I think I have some false ideas about exercise that really need to change. I know I need to get my body moving but I don’t feel an urgency. Regardless, I know this is temporary, I will be back on the exercise kick sooner or later.

But this topic came about because I was reading my old comments on this blog and noticed that several people said I did cardio wrong. I was doing cardio before weights and they said to do it post weights. Well I was doing my cardio that way because if I didn’t do it before weights, I wouldn’t do it at all. That’s neither here nor there, I just read a blurb in Oxygen! magazine about this topic, it says:

Should you do cardio before your workout or after? The answer really depends on your goals. If you want to increase lean muscle mass, do your resistance training first and your cardio afterward, since cardio can decrease the amount of growth hormone released when weight training and a bonus is that you don’t deplete yourself before you get to your strength training. If fat loss is your goal, however, do your cardio first and follow it with weight training.
