I went to my first appointment with Dr. Nowzaradan yesterday, it’s the same office that’s on the tv show and they weigh you on the same scale used on the show. First you meet with a nurse who goes over your health history, then they give you some printed diet tips and a list of food you’re no longer allowed to eat. There’s things on there I wouldn’t have thought of like oatmeal and popcorn. Also included in the diet tips he says do not snack at all and he says there’s no such thing as a healthy snack which I found surprising. After going over these things dr now comes in to consult with you personally. He is just like on the tv show , very frank and honest. He asked me why I need surgery to stop eating sugar. I told him that I just think it’ll help. He prescribed me a couple of medicines, one is to help with insulin resistance which no Dr. has ever told me I have a problem with. Apparently that may help with my sugar cravings. After meeting with dr nowzaradan a tech came and did my blood work. I found my appointment to be very helpful and eye opening, definitely worth doing.
I just got my prescriptions filled today and just took them tonight so I don’t feel any different so far, I will keep you updated. I’m struggling with his diet requirements though. I eat way more than 1200 calories per day and I am having a hard time staying away from donuts. I found this new donut shop and it’s really good stuff. Black raspberry donuts filled with cream cheese. OMG! so difficult to avoid. The problem is it’s right across from my therapist office so I don’t now how I’m supposed to stay away. I’m going to have to white knuckle it.
Tonight I went to a bar and drank 3 margaritas but I met a girl there who told me about this group called Texas Fit Chicks and she said they really helped her lose weight. So I’m trying to sign up with them to get a little support in this weight loss journey.
I have another appointment with Dr. Nowzaradan next month and I want to have lost 5 pounds by then to show him that I am serious. Hopefully I’ll get approved for surgery.
